Pakihi Hut (DOC hut)
The Pakihi Track hut is approximately mid-way down the Pakihi Track, 11km from the Motu Road and 9km from the Pakihi Road. The hut has six bunks and a covered verandah. It is in a stunning location close to the Pakihi stream.
The Pakihi Hut is managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC). Use is "first come first served" with no pre-booking. You need to pay a charge of $5 per person per night.
For a true back-country wilderness experience, this is special. The hut also makes a handy lunch stop on your ride or walk as there's a large covered verandah area. Don't ride past, check it out.
The hut has a fireplace. There's no power. Bring your own food. Please respect other users and take out all your rubbish.
DOC's web site has details on how to get your hut ticket.
