Motu-vation Cafe is in Motu, just around the corner from Motu Community House. Kaz Winterton owns the business, after restoring the wonderful old building.
You can visit by bike or car. Coming from Matawai, which is on SH2, the road is sealed all the way. Motu-vation is about a 90-minute drive from Gisborne, and the same from Opotiki.
At Motu-vation Cafe you have the option of dairy free muffins; and coffee with soy, trim and lactose-free milk. Other light refreshments are available by request.
The store stocks a small range of goods that enables cyclists to self-cater at Motu Community House without having to carry supplies. Bread can be supplied by the quarter-loaf.
If you're staying at the Community House, you can also let Motu-vation do the cooking! You can order tasty breakfast, lunch and/or dinner/dessert.
There's plenty to explore in Motu, making the area a great destination for a day, overnight or longer. Motu Falls, Whinray Scenic Reserve, Moutohora rail bridge, Motu Church, Motu Kiwi Sanctuary and more. Ask at Motu-vation.
Motu-vation is in the Old Motu General Store. This was built for Mr McGregor in 1904 by Mr C Hansen & Son. The store served the people of the Motu for over 100 years.
The store has a wide range of art & craft by local artisans. On 18 March Motu-vation hosts an Old Time Fair combined with an Art & Craft Show, with all profits to the Whinray Trust.
